What changes

For new applications submitted from 1 January 2027, and renewals of passes expiring from 1 January 2028, the minimum fixed monthly salary rises from S$5,600 to S$6,000 for applicants aged 23 or below (all sectors except financial services), and from S$10,700 to S$11,500 at age 45 and above. In financial services it rises from S$6,200 to S$6,600 at age 23 or below, and from S$11,800 to S$12,700 at age 45 and above. The requirement increases progressively with age between 23 and 45.

COMPASS still applies

Meeting the salary is only stage one. Most applications also need 40 points under COMPASS, which scores salary, qualifications, the firm's nationality diversity and its local hiring. Applicants earning at least S$22,500 a month, overseas intra-corporate transferees and roles of one month or less are exempt.

What to do now

If you plan to apply or renew in 2027, check your salary against the new table early, and ask your employer how the company scores on the diversity and local-employment criteria.

Bringing family

A Dependant's Pass needs the pass holder to earn at least S$6,000 a month in fixed salary; parents can join on a Long-Term Visit Pass when the pass holder earns at least S$12,000.
